About Us

About Us

APN – Associação Portuguesa de Netball is officially registered with the Portuguese Ministry of Justice and operates in full compliance with national legislation. This provides a strong legal foundation for the development and promotion of netball in Portugal.

Our leadership team combines a deep passion for netball with extensive professional expertise across key areas, including corporate governance, finance, legal affairs, IT, risk management, and the non-profit sector.

At APN, we believe in the power of collective input and shared leadership. We actively encourage our members to participate through working committees, advisory roles, and involvement in the General Assembly. Every member’s voice counts and each vote helps shape the direction and success of our organisation.

Working alongside local authorities, educational institutions, community organisations and dedicated volunteers, APN is laying the foundations for a sustainable future where netball becomes an established part of Portugal's sporting landscape.

Our commitment extends beyond the court. We are building a sport founded on excellence, inclusion and opportunity—supporting players, coaches, umpires, clubs and communities through strong governance, education and development.

This is more than the growth of a game.

It is the beginning of a lasting sporting legacy.

Welcome to the Associação Portuguesa de Netball.

Welcome to the future of netball in Portugal.

Our Story

Our Story

Founded in 2022, the Associação Portuguesa de Netball (APN) was established with one clear ambition: to introduce, develop and inspire the growth of netball throughout Portugal.

Today, APN is proud to be the only organisation officially recognised by both World Netball and Europe Netball as the national representative for netball in Portugal, leading the development of the sport from grassroots to the opportunity to participate on the international stage!

In just a few years, what began as a vision has grown into a thriving national community. Across the Algarve, Lisbon and beyond, clubs, academies, schools and universities are embracing netball, creating opportunities for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to discover a sport that builds confidence, friendships, wellbeing and a lifelong love of being active.
